The Great ShakeOut is a global earthquake readiness program that encourages millions of people worldwide to participate in earthquake drills at work, school, or home.  As the control agency for earthquakes, VICSES is encouraging everyone to plan a Great ShakeOut drill on the 15th of October and practise the steps DROP - COVER - HOLD ON to help you, your family and your workplace prepare.

If you feel the ground shaking:

  • DROP to the ground

  • COVER your head and neck with your arms and move under a sturdy table or other piece of furniture

  • HOLD ON until the shaking stops

The Great ShakeOut simple drill guide provides step-by-step information to help you plan, run and review your earthquake drill, including pre-recorded audio to play beforehand to prepare participants.

Drills can happen on any day, not just the 15th!
